Today I’m talking about the First Lucanian Writers contest. Realize Puppets, cans and walls are on the house.

The event aimed at giving visibility to the street art culture in Matera, Italy, occurs within the 3rd edition of [BasilicataCinema] Fatevi i Corti Vostri festival. The festival, dedicated to amateur or self-produced audio and video, will take place from September 27 to October 4, 2009 at the local mediatheque in Matera, and will aim at further pushing creativity and freedom of expression, with the intent to revamp the interactivity of the public spaces in the region, starting from Matera, a city patronised by UNESCO.

The artistic event will take place Sunday, October 4, from 4pm to 9pm; candidates can enter singularly or in pairs, with provided spaces of 2×2m. The panels will be placed under the arcade by Palazzo dell’Annunziata, in the heart of the city. Each artist will be provided with 6 cans and some caps (2 Normal, 2 New York and 2 Skin).

The theme for the graffiti contest will be “the Mediterranean”, and artists are allowed to use personal items too. At the end of the exhibition, a winner will be declared and awarded with the realisation of a permanent mural at the site of the “Centro benessere Light” in Matera.

How to participate:

Everyone can enter the competition and it is free.
There are no limitations on age or nationality.

designmusicsocialstreet art Daydreaming about Italy

Today I’m feeling a bit unfocused, I’m still in holiday-mood and I’m dreaming of all the places I want to visit and experience. I thought that having a look on the Go Find It map would help my daydreaming a bit. It sure did: the map is filled with so much stuff I wish I could do and see. I’d love to save up a huge amount of money and just travel the world. Clearly I won’t have the money to do this for a very, very long time but planning for the future is never wrong ;)

Italy caught my eye and I got stuck looking for places there, it seems like such a lovely country.

I would love to experience some Italian shopping (who wouldn’t?), this store is one I’d like to visit. Then I’d love to go to an art museum and also look at some of the street art Italy has to offer, this one seems quite nice, don’t you think? Finally I would have to have dinner, I love Italian food so I don’t think I would have a hard time finding a restaurant, but Fuori Luogo seems like a great place. Of course I would also have to try out the night life: Tunnel in Milan is probably a place I’d like since underground clubs is my thing.

Oh, lovely dreams, I better start saving straight away…
