The Elephant House in Edinburgh is one of those places that you instantly like. My first visit there was actually when I had just moved to study in Edinburgh and was looking for a flat. I was supposed to meet with two girls that had rented an apartment right opposite the uni and were looking for 3 more people. As soon as I entered I loved the warm and inviting atmosphere, the staff consisted of young, friendly students and the food was great and pretty cheap too. But the best thing was the old fashioned back room overlooking the Edinburgh castle, which by the way is supposed to have inspired JK Rowling for Hogwarts. She started writing the first book here and since then the lovely place filled with elephant figures and drawings has quickly become a darling among both tourists as well as locals.

By the way doesn’t it look nice from outside?

As you might know me and Camille as well as another friend of ours are thinking of exploring a bit more of the UK . Edinburgh, where we initially planned to go to is a bit too far this time, so it’ll have to be another place. The problem is that we can’t really decide where to go. I think my vote goes for Bristol.

It’s definitely a good place for street art but I’ve also heard it’s a city well worth visiting for other reasons.  I found a lot of cool stuff on the map, but in particular I’d like to go to The Cooler, a night club which seems to be the perfect place for the three of us going on the trip. It been a while since I’ve danced my socks off and this really seems like the place to do it. Also, I can’t help to think that Friend & Co Gallery seems like a very pleasant gallery.

So, is Bristol the right place to go, or should we go somewhere else?

I’ve always wanted to visit Edinburgh and I’ll try to do it as soon as possible. Hopefully I can get some friends to come along as I know they want to visit Edinburgh as well.

Since none of us have been in Edinburgh before I was browsing the Go Find It map for cool things to do (thought I’d use this to convince my friends to come with me). To my enjoyment I found a lot of places I wanted to visit: if the weather is nice I really want to go to Oloroso, a rooftop restaurant and of course I would like to visit Armstrong’s vintage shop (as you already know I like vintage and retro things, so this looks like the perfect place for me). Also, since we’re probably going to stay a whole weekend I thought we might need a good bar to go to so I found Cabaret’s cavern which sounded quite nice.

So, what do you guys think, does this sound like a good weekend in Edinburgh or do you have any other tips of what we should do?
