Today I’m talking about the First Lucanian Writers contest. Realize Puppets, cans and walls are on the house.

The event aimed at giving visibility to the street art culture in Matera, Italy, occurs within the 3rd edition of [BasilicataCinema] Fatevi i Corti Vostri festival. The festival, dedicated to amateur or self-produced audio and video, will take place from September 27 to October 4, 2009 at the local mediatheque in Matera, and will aim at further pushing creativity and freedom of expression, with the intent to revamp the interactivity of the public spaces in the region, starting from Matera, a city patronised by UNESCO.

The artistic event will take place Sunday, October 4, from 4pm to 9pm; candidates can enter singularly or in pairs, with provided spaces of 2×2m. The panels will be placed under the arcade by Palazzo dell’Annunziata, in the heart of the city. Each artist will be provided with 6 cans and some caps (2 Normal, 2 New York and 2 Skin).

The theme for the graffiti contest will be “the Mediterranean”, and artists are allowed to use personal items too. At the end of the exhibition, a winner will be declared and awarded with the realisation of a permanent mural at the site of the “Centro benessere Light” in Matera.

street art It’s Universal

Spray Paintjaredmoo / CC BY 2.0

I was going to look at the Go Find It map for nice places to see in Greece since everyone I know keep on telling me what a beautiful place it is. However, before I had the time to go through the pins, I found this piece of street art.  It made me think of how universal street art is, how it exists everywhere. I know it’s basic but it’s still quite fascinating, don’t you think?

It would be amazing to have all the street art that must be hidden all around the world pinned on one map.

street art Only Pacman can save the streets

I know I tweeted this picture before, but I really like this piece. I’m not sure why, maybe because Pacman makes me nostalgic, maybe because it’s quit fun or maybe because it’s so unusual to see this kind of street art in Sweden.

Because of the strict laws against graffiti there’s not as much as here in the UK. However stickers are very common: all the traffic and street signs are covered with them.
