street art The Billboard Trasher in Madrid

inautumnleavesfall_large

Hi, my name is Mark and I am one of the editors from UK Street Art. We run a site that showcases UK artists at home and abroad. The site is a great resource for information on street art, graffiti, exhibitions and a whole lot more.

Sam3 has been putting his mark on Madrid recently. The image above is titled “In The Autumn Leaves Fall” and is of a huge black figure rolling back the the previous pastings of the billboards in which they live. Painted with rollers on sticks, using paint that was available at the time, these figures are simple yet a highly effective.

You can pick up some prints by Sam3 over at Paper Monster, priced at $150 upwards. View some more of Sam3’s work on his blog

street art Hola from VNA magazine…

Hi, my name is George and im editor of VNA magazine (Very Nearly Almost) and im gonna be dropping by every now and again to guest blog. Hopefully I can bring some helpful information on the London street art scene to the table. VNA is a quarterly printed magazine that features street art and graffiti from London and interviews from artists, designers and photographers from around the world. If you get a chance go have a ganders.

So here is my top tip for the week if you are in London town…

Go see Miss Van’s retrospective show at Stolen Space gallery….

Its an amazing show and well worth a look. I went to the private view last night and the whole show blew me away. Featuring her work from as far back as 2003, the show also has a gallery space dedicated to her new body of work. Prints are for sale too. More info on the Stolen Space Website

Have a good weekend y’all.

street art Cupcakes in Kensington

Rob's Birthday Cupcakescatbeurnier / CC BY-ND 2.0

Close to where a friend of mine lives we discovered a cute little cupcake shop. I know there are millions of cupcake shops around London, but this is one of my favourites.

It’s called Buttercup and it’s located in a quiet area just off High Street Kensington. I enjoy the fact that it’s tucked away in a residential area without any other shops surrounding it (apart from a pub a bit further down the road). This makes it feel a lot more genuine somehow. I also adore the green and pink outside; it’s so sweet, almost as sweet as their amazing cupcakes.

I’m usually not a fan of cupcakes but the tasty, though not too sugary icing, makes it impossible not to like these ones. Try them and let me know what you think!
