Last summer I spent 10 days in Berlin with a group of my friends. It was our first time in Germany and we loved the city; Berlin has a really interesting mix of the modern and the historical, it’s exciting because among the modern buildings many of the historical sites are still being restored.

When the sun goes down in Berlin the city really comes to life. The diverse origins of its population make it possible to enjoy as many different atmospheres as you want. Among all the great bars we visited in Berlin, we particularly loved one: YAAM – Young Afrikan Art Market. This bar has a Jamaican style and is located near the East Side Gallery in one of the most visited areas in Berlin. We loved this bar so much that we spent most of our evenings (and late nights) there. Why? Because tucked away inside was an entire basketball court where people always play around, the walls were full of nice street art, there’s a half-pipe to skate on, live Reggae music every night, a sandy terrace and lots of great people! A lot of things on offer for a bar – that’s why I find Yaam such a great social meeting point, and why I’d recommend it to everyone.

Sevilla, the 4th biggest city of Spain, has always been admired for its old streets, dislodging history in each corner. However, now it’s also admired for its new art scene.

Last week I received an email from a friend who had been to Sevilla recently. He told me about the tasteful food and the beautiful city but he also told me about a nice street art gallery called Montana Shop & Gallery Sevilla. In this gallery you can watch street art exhibitions from both international and Spanish artists, for example: Beautiful Colors, Fafa and 3ttman. Another cool thing is that you can buy some spray cans of your own on the way out.

Check out their website and make sure to stop by if you’re ever in Sevilla, I know I will.

social Go find me… in l’Atelier de l’Artiste!

As I told you in my previous post, I’m from Lille but I grew up in Rennes, in Brittany where my family and some of my friends still live. So, when I fancy a ‘French break’, I go to Brittany for a few days in order to ‘recharge my batteries’ as they say. Literally, it means that I spend my time (and my money) shopping and having coffees and other drinks. There’s one place that I always go back to every time I’m in Rennes: l’Atelier de l’Artiste. It’s a nice café located in the centre of Rennes and basically it’s mine and my friends headquarters.

If you looked at it from the outside, you would probably wonder why I’ve recommended this place to you because it seems quite ordinary but, in fact, the nice stuff is hidden at the bottom of the café: there’s a nice patio opened in the summer as well as in the winter with big parasols (that also can be used as umbrellas sometimes), in a bohemian trendy decor with a fountain and some strange pieces of art work.

If you ever travel through Rennes, come and check, maybe I will be there…
